My new keyboard is missing the LCD screen backlight. I'm getting quotes 
from China on the white screen with black text LCD modules. It might be 
time to design a small sub-board (using surface mount components even) 
that makes a simple plug and play LCD screen replacement. Others are 
buying LCDs for $50+ from DigiKey and doing a bunch of hacking.
