(I doubt they'll want us messing with the side door in terms of messing with the locks). Badging in through the back door would be nice if we could limit it only to people who we don't mind having access to the "storage and dangerous tools" room.

Outside front door, inside front door (so we can track who is leaving), the side door into the lobby is kind of problematic as it opens out so a breakaway strike isn't really possible, though a solenoid in the existing strike to push the bolt in would work though I don't think we really should bother with that. Outside back door has the same issue with the strike, though a maglock is possible, but it would mean needing a key and a card, or trusting the maglock totally, which would mean either lock fail on power fail, or using an electromagnetic counter force to open the door, and still need a keypad outside. Cool idea, but all rather costly. Now a swipe (no pin) to get into the back room from the inside would be nice, so when we have open days, or when other groups are using the space, we don't have to worry about non members accessing heavy tools or storage area. Since we have full access to that wall, and the door frame we can likely install what ever sort of release we want, and using a solenoid to push in the bolt would work fine there.
